Career Accomplishments

  • Ghostwriter for 10 consecutive physicians who served as president of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), the largest U.S.-based membership organization for allergist/immunologists. I wrote for and counseled some of the most eminent physicians in the allergy/immunology specialty who worked at institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
  • Launched the AAAAI president’s message into its own series of monthly emails, which redefined and amplified how presidents communicate with the organization's members, as well as improved transparency between AAAAI leadership and members.
  • Launched the AAAAI’s first advocacy-focused email newsletter, working alongside a team of doctors. Members found it so valuable that it became the organization’s only newsletter to be sent twice a month.
  • Provided strategy to implement a series of monthly video messages for the 2020-2021 AAAAI president, achieving their goal of connecting with members in a more meaningful way during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Partnered with a physician-led task force that set response strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic, where I was among a small group of selected staff who helped build a comprehensive resource website containing unique COVID-19 content tailored to the needs of AAAAI members. I was responsible for regularly updating this resource website and consulting with a physician leader to continuously streamline its navigation. I also led the editing and distribution of ~130 COVID-related messages containing curated updates to keep AAAAI members informed. These messages consistently eclipsed 50% open rates.
  • Directed a PR strategy that resulted in over 15,000 mentions in various media outlets, representing a publicity value of over $20 million and reaching an audience of over 32 million. Oversaw the development of media records and reports using Cision, recommended strategies to enhance PR opportunities, and coordinated the PR surrounding the research presented at the AAAAI Annual Meeting and published year-round in the AAAAI's official journals.
  • Served as the first point of contact for journalists throughout the year and managed the onsite press room at the AAAAI Annual Meeting, working with journalists from media outlets around the world and connecting them with appropriate experts.
  • Developed the media strategy for the release of a groundbreaking study that revolutionized the understanding of when to introduce peanut in infants' diet in order to prevent the development of peanut allergy. This included designing and facilitating the largest press conference the AAAAI ever held, featuring top food allergy experts and the editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine as moderator.
  • Worked with the AAAAI's online communications manager and physician website editor to set strategy that expanded the website’s standing as patients' trusted resource for information on allergies, asthma, and immune deficiency disorders. I also oversaw the creation of digital marketing graphics, including website banners, infographics, and social media posts, that were incorporated into the AAAAI's content strategy and supported its brand.
  • Staffed the AAAAI's DEI Committee and worked with its leaders to coordinate the writing and publishing of the first work group report on health disparities in allergic and immunologic conditions. This report was then used by the AAAAI to help advocate for congressional solutions to address these issues.
  • Enhanced overall email communications for the AAAAI by leading the switch to an email marketing and automation solution that integrated with the organization's membership database. Rebranded all email communications with a cohesive look, implemented better personalization and targeting, and streamlined the approach to tracking outgoing marketing emails across the organization. Results included a 46% average open rate and 5% average click rate for email communications, with four regular email newsletters having average open rates that ranged from ~35%-50%.
  • Ghostwriting pieces written for physician leaders have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, one of the world's most prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals, as well as in supplements to USA Today
